Marine Airtime Activation and Subscription Services: A Vessel Account-Change Guide

Marine airtime activation and subscription changes require an identified terminal, an authorised account request and confirmation of the applicable service terms. SEANAV Marine accepts enquiries for supported airtime arrangements, including new activation, plan changes, deactivation and related coordination.

Submitting a request does not establish that the account has changed. Obtain completion confirmation and preserve any required communication functions before treating a transition as finished.

Define the requested account action

State whether the enquiry concerns a new activation, an existing plan change, a service transfer, suspension where available or deactivation. Include the requested effective date and explain any vessel, ownership or operational change relevant to the request.

Different actions can have different requirements and commercial consequences. A transfer should not be assumed to close an old account, and a deactivation request should not be assumed to end every associated charge immediately.

Identify the vessel and terminal

Provide the vessel name and IMO number, terminal make and model, service type and available account information. Indicate whether the terminal is active and identify the current authorised account contact.

Use the agreed verification route for sensitive identifiers and records. Do not include passwords or access credentials in ordinary email or public enquiry documents. The service desk can establish which additional information is needed through the appropriate process.

Review the existing commitment

Ask what minimum term, notice requirements, outstanding charges, equipment obligations or other conditions apply to the requested change. The answer must come from the actual service arrangement rather than a generic cancellation assumption.

For a new subscription, request a clear record of recurring charges, included usage, additional-use costs, activation fees and the commencement basis. Distinguish an intended start date from confirmed activation.

Protect service continuity during transition

Identify any voice, messaging, safety, security or tracking functions that depend on the affected equipment or account. Arrange the appropriate continuing service before requesting interruption where those functions are required.

For equipment replacement or vessel transfer, clarify who handles account changes and who handles terminal configuration or onboard work. These activities may need coordination but are not the same task.

Keep completion evidence with the vessel record

Request the action completed, effective date, relevant service status and support contact. If a proposed change cannot be completed as requested, ask for the remaining requirement and next step.

For fleet accounts, track each vessel separately. A confirmation for one terminal should not be treated as confirmation that every ship in the enquiry has been activated, transferred or closed.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is activation immediate after payment or an enquiry?

Do not assume immediate activation. The applicable account checks, service procedures and confirmed effective date determine the arrangement.

Can SEANAV change an account without the owner’s authority?

Requests are subject to account authorisation and applicable procedures. Identify the authorised contact when preparing the enquiry.

Can an unused terminal simply be deactivated?

First establish its account obligations and any required communication role. Apparent lack of routine use does not by itself establish that interruption is appropriate.

What proves the request is complete?

Obtain explicit confirmation of the action and effective date, together with any relevant account or service-status records.
