The Weatherdock easyAIS is a dedicated receive-only (RX) marine AIS device engineered to decode Class A, Class B, AIS SART, and AtoN transmissions for display on navigation chartplotters, radar displays, and ECDIS systems. As an RX-only unit, it does not transmit RF signals, does not possess an internal RF power amplifier, does not store a vessel MMSI number, and is not subject to IMO MSC.1/Circ.1252 annual performance testing (APT). If your vessel requires Class A or Class B AIS transponder programming, MMSI changes, or APT certification, please refer to our Marine Equipment Programming & Reprogramming UAE service.

2. Common easyAIS Operational Faults & Troubleshooting
| Observed Symptom | Root Technical Cause | Seanav Engineering Action |
|---|---|---|
| No AIS Targets on MFD | NMEA 0183 baud rate mismatch (4,800 baud selected instead of 38,400 baud high speed) | Reconfigure chartplotter NMEA port to 38,400 bps; verify !AIVDM data sentences with oscilloscope/terminal. |
| Extremely Short Target Range (< 2 NM) | High VHF antenna VSWR (> 2.5:1), degraded coaxial line, or water ingress at antenna base | Perform VHF antenna sweep test, re-terminate PL-259/BNC connectors, or install tuned marine AIS whip antenna. |
| Unit Will Not Power On (LEDs Dark) | Blown internal protective fuse or shorted TVS clamping diode due to vessel alternator voltage spike | Bench diagnostic of DC power rail, replace blown surge-protection components, calibrate power filtering. |
3. Need Technical Support or Transponder Upgrade in UAE?
