SEANAV MARINE

Certified AIS Engineering, Diagnostics & Regulatory Compliance in UAE

Navigation and radio safety compliance is non-negotiable for commercial vessels navigating the busy sealanes of the United Arab Emirates. Whether your ship is berthing in Dubai, Fujairah, Jebel Ali, Sharjah, Abu Dhabi, or Ras Al Khaimah, equipment breakdowns can lead to immediate Port State Control (PSC) detention, insurance invalidation, or sailing delays. Seanav Marine maintains dedicated marine electronics workshops and mobile technical teams to troubleshoot, repair, calibrate, and reprogram AIS systems around the clock.

Our engineers are equipped with calibrated RF spectrum analyzers, NMEA protocol sniffers, signal generators, beacon test receivers, and genuine OEM parts to resolve complex faults on the first attendance.

Verified Technical Case Study

Class A AIS MMSI & Flag Change Reprogramming at Fujairah Anchorage

Vessel: 82,000 DWT Bulk Carrier (Flag Transfer)
Location: Fujairah Offshore Anchorage (FOA Sector B)
Equipment: Furuno FA-170 Class A AIS Transponder

Reported Fault: Vessel transferred flag from Panama to Liberia; required urgent MMSI, call sign, and vessel name update prior to sailing.

Diagnosis: Transponder locked in administrator password mode; static vessel data locked to previous Panama identity.

Work Performed: Engineer boarded via launch boat. Performed authorized OEM factory software unlock, reprogrammed 9-digit MMSI, updated new Liberian call sign, vessel dimensions, GPS antenna offsets, and IMO number.

Testing & Verification: Conducted live AIS RF transmission test. Verified correct AIS static & dynamic data broadcast on local port VTS and pilot portable unit (PPU) via pilot plug interface.

Result: Complete flag change reprogramming finalized in 2.5 hours; class endorsement report provided to Master.

High VSWR Alarm & Transmitter Malfunction Diagnostics

Beyond standard MMSI and static data programming, Seanav Marine resolves persistent operational AIS alarms. A high VSWR (Voltage Standing Wave Ratio) alarm indicates severe RF power reflection, typically caused by water ingress inside the VHF antenna coax cable, damaged N-connectors, or a corroded whip antenna element. We perform line sweeping, measure forward/reflected RF wattage, and resolve TX malfunction errors that would otherwise prevent vessel sailing clearance.

Internal GPS Receiver & External Sensor Input Faults

If an AIS transponder displays “No GPS Position” or “Heading Sensor Lost”, it triggers an audible bridge alarm and degrades target transmission reliability. Our engineers inspect active GPS antenna feed voltages, replace low-noise amplifier (LNA) modules, and recalibrate NMEA 0183 heading telegrams ($HEHDT) from the vessel gyrocompass.
