Five marine airtime requirements to discuss with SEANAV Marine are VSAT broadband, FleetBroadband voice and data, Inmarsat-C messaging, eligible security and tracking communications, and subscription management. The appropriate arrangement depends on the vessel’s terminals, trading routes, operational needs and account status.
This SEANAV-published guide features one service contact and five service categories. It is not a list of five companies, an independent world ranking or a claim that SEANAV operates every underlying satellite network. Service capability and availability are confirmed for each enquiry.
1. VSAT broadband airtime
VSAT airtime enquiries should identify the installed antenna, modem and current service arrangement. Explain the intended use, such as vessel-office applications, operational data or crew connectivity, so a suitable plan can be assessed.
Ask for the applicable coverage, capacity terms, usage policy and support arrangements. A headline bandwidth figure does not define the entire service, and an existing antenna does not establish compatibility with every proposed subscription.
2. FleetBroadband voice and data
FleetBroadband supports voice and data through compatible maritime terminals. Provide the terminal model, existing service information, usage requirement and requested start date when contacting SEANAV.
Confirm included usage, additional charges, minimum term and activation requirements for the actual offer. Do not assume that a FleetBroadband plan has the same usage model or application capacity as a VSAT broadband package.
3. Inmarsat-C and SAT-C messaging
Inmarsat-C/SAT-C enquiries concern compatible maritime messaging installations and associated service arrangements. Identify the terminal and the requested account change, and explain any safety-related role of the installation.
Messaging service should not be described as general-purpose broadband internet or an ordinary voice subscription. The vessel’s required functions and applicable service arrangements must be established before an account is changed.
4. Eligible security and tracking communication arrangements
SSAS security alerts and LRIT identification and tracking serve different purposes. If an enquiry involves either function, identify the equipment and the requested service without assuming they are interchangeable or included in a broadband plan.
SEANAV can assess the relevant enquiry and establish what specialist or authorised coordination is required. Any proposed change must preserve the vessel’s applicable security, tracking and operational arrangements.
5. Activation and subscription management
Activation, deactivation, subscription changes and billing-contact updates require an identified terminal and authorised account request. Provide the desired effective date and distinguish that date from the date the request is submitted.
Obtain confirmation of service status and commercial terms before treating a request as complete. Acknowledgement of an email is not proof of activation, cancellation or transfer.
