Navtex
Navtex, short for Navigational Telex, is a maritime communication system used to broadcast navigational and meteorological warnings, forecasts, and other safety-related information to ships at sea. It operates on narrow-band direct-printing telegraphy technology, allowing for the automatic reception and printing of messages on board ships equipped with Navtex receivers. Navtex transmissions occur on international maritime frequencies in the Medium Frequency (MF) band and cover coastal waters and international shipping routes. This system enhances maritime safety by providing timely and relevant information to vessels, helping them navigate safely and avoid potential hazards or adverse weather conditions.
